Light Micrographs of Stratified Columnar Epithelia
LMs of stratified columnar epithelia. Both have a surface layer of columnar cells in contact with free space (*). This multilayered epithelium occurs in the male urethra (Left) and palpebral conjunctiva (Right). The conjunctiva also has goblet cells (GC). The epithelia rest on a thin basement membrane (arrows) and cover loose connective tissue (CT). 680×. H&E.
